5c Cardiology Excursion

On May 24, GIBS’ 5c class had the valuable opportunity to visit LKH West for a lecture on cardiological procedures aimed to help people with heart problems.

Dr Saurer invited us to the hospital in Eggenberg and even organized a visit to the catheter lab!  In the catheter lab Dr Zechner explained the balloon procedure and how stents are implanted.  We then had lectures by Dr Saurer and Dr Pap.  We learned about blood pressure, pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, and more.

The students now understand the procedures involved in opening up clogged arteries and in adding rhythm instruments into the body.

Thank you Dr Saurer, Dr Pap and Dr Zechner for giving life to Biology course content!
