GIBS Night Out at Tubes

This past Tuesday, January 17 class 6b, with year 7 and 8 music students were treated to made-for-GIBS jazz workshop and concert at the jazz club Tubes featuring vocalist Tanja Filipovic.  Tanja was backed up by an all-star rhythm section: Lajos Toth on piano, Andreas Reisenhofer on drums and Jernej Vindsnurer on bass. The evening began with Tanja having an open conversation with students about her journey into the world of vocal jazz, and was followed by a set of traditional jazz standards that highlighted her route – which included topics covered in class this semester (blues, bossa nova, as well as notable jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald and composer Duke Ellington).  Special thanks to Luis Bonilla, Sigi Feigl and the Tubes staff for opening their doors for this awesome experience!
