Viva la Libertà!

Students in 8i as well as all year 8 music students were treated to an outstanding musical performance featuring the Landesjugendsinfonieorchester Steiermark, under the baton of GIBS parent Thomas Platzgummer.  Our very own Zoe Maletz, 8i, was playing in the violin section!  The fabulous youth orchestra played several overtures, including Lortzing’s Andreas Hofer, Rossini’s William Tell, Verdi’s Giovanna d’Arco, Lysenko’s Taras Bulba, and the program closed with Khatchaturian’s Suite aus Spartacus.  

GIBS students attended the morning dress rehearsal – the Stefaniensaal open just for us! 

The orchestra had just finished a week-long tour in Europe, finishing in Graz to a sold-out evening performance.
