European Day of Languages @ GIBS

On September 24th, the GIBS school community celebrated the European Day of Languages with several events. The date of the official European Day of Languages is September 26th and it is celebrated all over Europe, also in the city of Graz.

At GIBS, Year 8 students taught Year 1 students English through fun games and activities they had prepared in their English lessons.  Year 2 students got to experience the four other foreign languages taught at GIBS, namely French, Latin, Russian and Spanish through mini-workshops with the Year 7 students of said languages.

In the long break, the GIBS language café took place in which students of different mother tongues taught a few words of their languages to other students. Over 20 different languages were presented, and students learnt phrases in languages from places close to Austria, like Hungarian and Bosnian, as well as far away, such as Mandarin and Telugu.  It was wonderful to experience the language diversity of the GIBS community.

Thank you to all the participants!
