ContrasTrio comes to GIBS
On January 30th and 31st there was music in the ‘air’ at GIBS – namely, the ContrasTrio!
Ukrianian musicians Oleksii Kanke (piano) and Pavlo Mamontov (clarinet) joined up with Oberton String Octet violinist David Bento to give a workshop and chamber music concert to well over 100 students in the music room. The concert featured late Romantic period and 20th century music and included: Bartok Contrasts, Brahms Clarinet Sonata (2nd movement), Bartok Romanian Folk Dances, and Schoenfeld’s March and Freylakh (from the trio 1990).
The virtuoso playing coupled with an explanation of the music featured and the story of each performer’s path to reach this high level of artistry was a highly educational experience for all!
